My short story, “The Sweetgum Tree”, won first prize in the Palo Alto Weekly Short Story Contest. You can read it online at http://www.paloaltoonline.com/weekly/story.php?story_id=3619. You can also view the PDF version with the lovely artwork. You’ll have to search for the Dec. 6 issue from http://www.paloaltoonline.com/weekly/.

Lightening strikes twice for “The Sweetgum Tree”. It’s won second place in the short fiction contest sponsored by The Writer magazine! The submission guidelines said any story that hadn’t appeared in a national publication, so I figured the Palo Alto Weekly was as local as you could get. So why not? It’ll be on their website in March.

Yay! My friend Christine came in first place in the Palo Alto Weekly contest this year. And I came in third. I’m so happy for Christine and am very happy with my third place. I’ve never written a ghost story before, so I’m thrilled I did so well venturing into a new genre.
Books, movies, musings, pictures of my cat. Keeping it simple.
